The Bedfordshire Blue Raiders held their annual awards night this past Saturday at Bedford International Athletics Stadium. As well as presenting the 2009 MVP awards, a number of announcements were made during the evening from the new committee and the future of the club to unveiling the new brand. "This year was a very hotly contested competition across all categories of award and really did come down the the wire which is true testiment to the strides the team and players have made over the past 12 months. I know the winners will continue to serve as inspiration to both old and new players as we move into our 2010 campaign. Congratulations to all this years winners." The full list of winners are: Rookie of the Year: Philip Wingham Special Teams Player of the Year: Matthew Johnson Defensive Player of the Year: John Murphy Offensive Player of the Year: Liam Cooke 2009 Most Valuable Player: John Murphy Blue Raider of the Year: Chris Wallis The Blue Raiders are taking a well earned few weeks off now, but, will return on November 8th for Rookie/Open Days.
