The Bedfordshire Blue Raiders are sad to announce that Head Coach, Chris Wallis, has decided to step down with immediate effect. The decision follows a successful 2009 campaign for the Blue Raiders that saw them gain play-off berth following an 8-2 regular season record.

A team representative said, “The team are saddened by Coach Wallis’s decision to step down, however, we fully understand the reasons behind it.

The Blue Raiders have achieved so much in our short history and that is in no doubt attributed to the dedication of Coach Wallis, not only was he the Head Coach, but, he was also instrumental in setting up the club and ensuring we became a fully fledged BAFL member.

We greatly appreciate all of the hard work and dedication Coach Wallis has given us over the past 3 years and wish him all the best in any future endeavours. He will be sorely missed by all”

Coach Wallis added, "My last three years with the Blue Raiders have been amazing. From those very first emails between Co-Founders Dave Pankhurst and Steve Guy, to leading the team out in the playoff game against Colchester on Monday, it has been an incredible journey.

I'm sad to be leaving the team, but with a young family and another baby on the way it's time for me to be practical and put my family first.

I know I'm leaving the team in safe hands. It's certainly going to be an exciting future for the Blue Raiders."

Even with this sad news the Blue Raiders are hard at work training in preparation for their forthcoming NSPCC Charity Game in October against the Cambridgeshire Cats.
More updates regarding this and the future of the Bedfordshire Blue Raiders will be made available in the coming weeks.
